Delhi Daredevils is Delhi franchise for IPL and is owned by GMR Group. This team is being captained by Gautam Gambhir. GMR Group purchased this team for $84 million.
In2008 IPL, these tem used most of the core players except Daniel Vettori. The team had good batting line up with Virendar Sehwag and Gautam Ghambir as the opening pair and used most of the foreign players for bowling like Glenn McGrath and Mohammad Asif.
Team started well by winning 4 matches out of 5 and made the consistent winning till the semis but lost against Rajasthan Royals for 105 runs.
In 2009 IPL season, these time captain Gautam Gambhir couldn’t score much but other players like Tillakratne Dilshan and A.B de Villiers helped the team in getting good scores in the board, with D Villiers scoring century in this season.
They had good bowling line up by having Daniel Vettori, Glenn Mc Grath and Dirk Nannes in the team. Infact, daredevils made Mc Grath and Vettori sit in the bench. But it got a contribution from Nannes, dilshan and David Warner.
Bollwood superstar Akshay Kumar was the brand ambassador for the team in 2008 season but due busy schedule he couldn’t promote the team in 2009 but used to attend in stands to cheer up.
In the first season Virendar Sehwag was the captain but later in the he gave up to Gautam Gambhir. The team has also got Indian players like Dinesh Karthik, Amit Mishra and VijayKuamr Yomahesh.
