2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games

So, the time for the Commonwealth Games of 2010 is around the corner. These games that are scheduled for 2010 are the 19th edition of these games though under the commonwealth tag they appear to be the 9th. As per the schedule, these games are hosted by New Delhi, the capital city of India between the days of 3rd October 2010 to 14th October 2010. There is much enthusiasm between the residents of New Delhi as it is the biggest event till date that will be hosted by the New Delhi in the recent times although it previously played host to the 1951 and 1982 Asian Games.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is chosen to be the main primary stadium for the opening and the closing ceremony and it going to present the montage face of the games and the host to the participating nations and their participants. This is the first time that these Commonwealth Games are being held in India and the second time for Asia. Earlier the other Asian country to host this event is Malaysia in the city of Kuala Lumpur (Malaysian Capital).

These games are going to be one such unique games of their type as the games are being conducted on the mutual agreement between the UN Environment Program. This understanding carefully tells the host to ensure that the sustainability of these games are maintained and the construction and renovation process involved with the venues of the games pose no threat of any sort to the environment. These games are going to be such green games which will be conducted keeping in mind the fragility of our delicate environment. Rightly so, this effort has not only led the games to be realized but in the way it should be which is both economical and friendly as well.
