Walk in interview
A walk-in interview will be held to select candidates for the following positions in the ICAR-NAIP funded Project on "Bioprospecting of genes and allele mining for abiotic stress tolerance"(Duration: Till March, 2012; PI- Dr. T. Mohapatra, Principal Scientist). Desirous candidates may report for interview at 10:00 A.M. on 26-03-2011 in committee room, first floor, National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology, LBS Building, Pusa Campus, New Delhi- 110012 along with five copies of Bio-data and original certificates/testimonials.
1) Research Associate (One Post)
Fellowship per Month: Rs. 24000 +30% HRA for Ph.D or Rs. 23000 +30% HRA for M.Sc
Qualifications:
Ph.D in Molecular Biology/ Biotechnology /Genetics / any Branch of life Science with research experience in Molecular biology/Stress physiology or M.Sc in any of the above subjects with at least two years of post M.Sc research experience in Molecular genetics/Molecular biology/Stress Physiology.
2) Senior Research Fellow (One Post)
Fellowship per Month: Rs. 18000 +30% HRA
Qualifications: M.Sc in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology/Genetics/ Bioinformatics/ any branch of Life Sciences with relevant research experience.
1) The above posts are purely temporary and will be filled on contractual basis for an initial period of one year, which may be extended on yearly basis after satisfactory performance of the incumbent till termination of the scheme. There is no provision of re-engagement after termination of scheme. The selected candidate shall not claim for regular appointment at this institute as the fellowship is coterminus with respective scheme.
2) Age limit: 40 years for RA and 35 years for SRF. Age relaxation of 5 years to SC/ST & women candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates will be given.
3) TA/DA: No TA/DA will paid for attending the interview.

The National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology (NRCPB) was established in 1985 with a vision to impart the biotechnology advantage to the much-needed thrust to Indian Agriculture. The Centre had adopted relatively softer option of tissue culture based research in its infancy in view of the build-uptime required for a strong self-sustaining infrastructure.
Today almost a decade later, it stands poised to deliver impact-making results of research being pursued in upfront areas of plant biotechnology. Utilization of existing genetic variability by developing molecular aided selection, exploitation of heterosis, generation of new variability by tissue culture route, management of biotic and abiotic stresses, quality improvement by genetic engineering and biological nitrogen fixation are some of the salient research objectives being actively pursued at the Centre.
