New Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010

A simple birthday function at our domicile drives us crazy. Every nook and corner of the house will be beautified. We would try hiding out irregularities by tying ribbons and balloons. So just imagine the case that we are going to host world’s 3rd major multi sport event.

Yeah we Indians got the privilege to host nineteenth Commonwealth Games in our capital this year. Every street of Delhi is being tinkered and crafted to welcome the participants and guests for the event. 3rd October world is going to witness a very wonderful opening ceremony with Australian team leading the parade concluded by our home team. In between teams as usual will be filled based on alphabetical order.

Another addition accolade we get is, our flag joins one of the three flags hoisted on previous, present and next commonwealth game. Fifty Four Common Wealth Nations and its dependencies would throw in a total of seventy one teams, with elite athletes in each team making the event colorful.

Six Indian brand ambassadors selected by the organizing committee include young gallant athletes of India who had proved their mettle and raised Indian flags in various events. Starting from 3rd of October, nine core sports and eight optional sports out of thirty one sports approved by Commonwealth Games Federation will be held at different venues in Delhi.

Our honorable President Pratibha Devisingh Patil received the first invitation from the deserving Chairman of Organizing Committee, Common Wealth Games 2010 Mr. Suresh Kalmadi.

All the construction works taking place in the venues are being done in an eco-friendly way. Care is taken never to disturb our environment. On our march towards green earth, this step would be a remarkable move. The Queen’s Baton relay 2010 on its 163rd day was feted green by planting Mahogany sapling in Belize City. Queen’s baton was welcomed wherever it went. Baton, after its travel to various countries, finally reached India.

From fourth of June tickets will be open for public. Hope you all would be excited to watch Commonwealth games in our motherland. Get ready for the breathtaking event.
