Earn While You Learn Summer Programmes 2011
Ministry of Tourism, Government of India through Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management offers EWYL programme for sensitising youth to the concept of tourism and tourism industry. Youth may utilize their summer vacations/ breaks to learn about tourism and opportunities therein.
This 21 day programme intends to impart appropriate knowledge and impart necessary skills to learners so as to enable them:
To act as student volunteers
To prepare them as brand ambassadors of Indian Tourism as critical points of interaction with tourists
To make them aware about the nuances of tourism industry which them may choose to join at some future point of time
Eligibility
A candidate should have attained a minimum age of 18 years. He/ she shall be a graduate with a minimum of 50% marks. A student in the final year of the graduate course should also be eligible provided he / she has secured a minimum of 50% marks in the second year (of graduate course) examination. A college-going applicant shall also furnish no-objection letter issued by the Principal concerned as to his / her joining the programme.
Process
1. Download application from IITTM website: http://www.iittm.org
2. Submit applications by Friday, April 29, 2011 along with application fees of Rs. 100 through Demand Draft in favour of Director- IITTM, payable at Gwalior. Submit with application form:
a. Copy of Date of birth certificate,
b. Letter from principal/ competent authority of the college/ institute certifying that you are a bonafide student;
c. Foreign language certificate
3. Appear for admission test on stipulated date.
4. Common merit will be prepared and candidates will be allotted programmes as per their choice indicated in the application form.
5. Student must report for the counselling for the programmes selected for on the stipulated date and time. Students must ensure that they are eligible for the programme. Eligibility will be verified during counselling and the student must bring along original documents.
Admission
Admission will be made through an All India Admission test. The admission test would be of 45 minutes duration. The test carries maximum marks of 50. Test may comprise of questions on current affairs and history and English comprehension.
A candidate with acceptable foreign language proficiency (degree or a recognized certificate course) shall entitle him/her to an additional five marks subject to the conditions that such addition will not take his/ her marks beyond 50 (maximum marks for the test prescribed). That means if a candidate scores 47/50 and he / she know a foreign language his / her marks will be taken as 50/50.
Admission test
Admission test will be conducted at 12 centres- Gwalior, Jaipur, Bhopal, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Guwahati, and Hyderabad.
