Constable Jobs in Punjab Police Written Exam Question Paper Pattern


Punjab Police, Chandigarh invites application for the following posts:

Positions:

1) Constable

Selection Process:
This would comprise of four phases as mentioned below.

i) Phase-I

Written Test:

Eligible candidates will have to compulsorily appear for the written test.
i. Written test will be held on 15.05.2011. Venue of written test will be in and around Mohali. Exact venue, date and time of written test will be intimated by post and also through website www.punjabpoliceindia.org
ii. Written paper will be of 100 marks consisting of Multiple choice questions on Communication & Information Technology, Computer Hardware & Software, General knowledge, environment, science, numerical aptitude, test of reasoning etc.
iii. Minimum qualifying marks in written examination will be 50% for General Category and 45% for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and backward classes.
iv. If available candidates equaling ten times the number of seats offered in each category in the order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written examination (who otherwise have passed the Written Test) will be called for Physical Efficiency Test (PET).

ii) Phase-II

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
The candidates qualifying in the written test as per criteria will be allowed to participate in the physical efficiency test consisting of the following events:-

For Male
(i) (800 meters) race to be completed in 4 minutes (only one chance).
(ii) Long Jump (3 chances) 9 ft.
(iii) High Jump (3 chances) 3 ft.

For Female
(i) 400 meters race to be completed in 2 minutes (only one chance).
(ii) Long Jump (3 chances) 6 ft.
(iii)
High Jump (3 chances) 2 ½ ft.

Note: A candidate must qualify in all the above 3 events. Failure to qualify in any one of the above events of PET will render the candidate as disqualified.

For Ex-Servicemen:
800 meter Walk/Run to be completed in 6 minutes.

iii) Phase-III
Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

Qualified candidates from Phase II will be measured for height.

iv) Phase-IV

Interview:

i) Merit lists shall be drawn up separately for different categories. If available candidates equaling at least three times the number of seats offered in each category in the order of merit based on the marks obtained in the written examination only (Phase-II & Phase-III are qualifying only and do not carry any marks) would be called for interview.
ii) The interview will be of maximum 15 marks. Candidates will be assessed on the basis of their personal bearing, Communication skills, Knowledge of computers, Typing, General Awareness and General level of intelligence etc.

Merit List:
i) Category wise merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the written test and interview. Seats will be filled by the recruitment board as per the reservation policy of the state government according to roaster points.
ii) Waiting list of 20% candidates (at least one candidate in each category) will be prepared. Waiting list will be valid for one year or till next recruitment whichever is earlier.

About Punjab Police 
The Punjab Police is responsible for policing in the state of Punjab, India. Its present Director General is a J&K cadre IPS officer Mr. PS Gill. Mission of Punjab Police is the prevention and detection of crime, maintenance of law and order and enforcement of the Constitution of India with an eye on technological advancement and human rights.
Punjab Police has renowned teaching and training institutions to mould civilians into capable and effective policemen. Besides Punjab Police Academy at Phillaur, the other police teaching and training institutions is located at Jahan Khelan with the name Police Recruits Training Centre.
Police Recruits Training Centre (PRTC) is located at Jahan Khelan, which is about 10 km from Hoshiarpur on the Una road. PRTC Jahan Khelan is headed by a Commandant. This is a subsidiary training centre of the Punjab Police Academy. It caters to the teaching and training needs of the newly recruited police constables and also organizes several other courses. It is the oldest and premier police training centre of Northern area and is functioning in this campus since November 1947 after shifting from fort Gobindgarh, Amritsar.
