ADMISSION NOTICE
PGDC COMMON ENTRANCE TEST (CET) 2011
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA COURSE IN THERMAL POWER PLANT ENGINEERING (2011-12)
ELIGIBILITY: B.Tech/ B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical/ Electrical/ Power/ Electronics/ Control & Instrumentation Engineering. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply; however, they must submit their provisional degree at the time of counseling.
SELECTION CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION: Merit based on a Common Entrance Test (CET) result followed by counseling. CET will be held on 19/06/2011 at 8 centres (Faridabad, Badarpur, Nagpur, Durgapur, Neyveli, Bangalore, Guwahati and Nangal.)
AGE LIMIT: For non-sponsored candidates the age limit as on 31/08/2011 is 27 years. Age relaxation in case of reserve category candidates is as per Govt. norms. No age limit for the sponsored candidates.
TOTAL SEATS: 340. Reservation for OBC/SC/ST/Physically challenged as per Govt of India norms. 25% seats are reserved for candidates sponsored from Power Utilities having more than one year experience as on the date of counseling and more than 60% marks in Engineering Degree. The seat allocation of the Institutes is shown below:
Nagpur – 65 Badarpur – 65 Durgapur – 65
Neyveli – 65 Guwahati – 40 Nangal -- 40
Total No of seats may vary as per requirement. Vacant seats in sponsored category can be filled by non sponsored category and vice-versa if required.
PLACEMENT: To provide career opportunities in the Indian Power Sector, NPTI is maintaining close linkages with Power Utilities and reputed companies for employment of the trained engineers. Most of the students are placed in reputed Power Sector Companies before the completion of the course.
HOW TO APPLY: Applications are to be filled online with Demand Draft (DD for the prescribed registration fees of Rs.800/- in favour of “NPTI Nagpur”, payable at Nagpur must be ready at the time of registration) The other details are available on our site www.npti.in and www.nptinagpur.com Each applicant will be given a unique ID on successful registration at site. This ID must be preserved for future reference. On registration the hard copy along with the testimonials (refer website) and Demand Draft should be sent to The Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (WR), south Ambazari Road, Gopal Nagar, Nagpur-440 022 along with two copies of passport size photographs (with Name & ID written on backside) latest by 13/05/2011. The registration shall be confirmed only after the receipt of the hard copy of application with Demand Draft.
COURSE FEE: For non-sponsored candidates Rs.1, 60,000 (in 3 installments). For candidates sponsored from SEBs / PSUs / Private Utilities Rs.2,50,000/- lump sum at the time of admission. There is no fee concession for any category of candidates.
COURSE FEE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS:
* SAARC Countries: US$ 7,000
* Other Countries: US$ 8,000
The cost of Transportation to Industries/Power Stations is to be borne by the participants.
LODGING/BOARDING: Hostel Facility is available and provided on first come first served basis, subject to availability on extra charges. Separate hostel for girl candidates.
Counseling
Counseling will be held at NPTI (WR), Nagpur - 440022, between 12.07.11 to 15.07.11. The candidate must appear in person at the counseling date along with all relevant original documents including caste certificate(if applicable), Date of Birth certificate, Educational qualifications & sponsorship letter (if sponsored)etc. For students appearing in final year of Engineering Degree, Certificate/Provisional Degree Certificate issued by University is mandatory at the time of counseling. (Certificate/ Provisional degree issued by college/institution is not acceptable). The sponsored candidates will have to bring an undertaking as per Annexure – “A” on non judicial stamp paper of worth Rs. 10/- along with a photocopy of the same at the time of counseling.
COMMON ENTRANCE TEST-2011 (CET-2011)
The selection to the course on Post Graduate Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering shall be based on a common entrance test (CET) comprising 180 objective type questions to be answered in a duration of 2½ hours (150 minutes). The proposed date for the common entrance test is 19.06.2011, 11 AM. The test shall be conducted at eight (8) cities throughout India viz. 1. Faridabad, 2, Badarpur, (NewDelhi), 3. Nagpur, 4. Durgapur, 5. Bangalore, 6. Guwhati, 7. Nangal(Punjab) and 8. Neyveli. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending Test / Counseling and the candidates have to make their own arrangements in reaching the centers and own arrangement of stay.
The Common Entrance Test shall test the basic aptitude, General Engineering and the branch/discipline knowledge of individuals. The questions are to be answered on the OMR sheet provided. Negative marking is also done to avoid random marking. Each of the marked correct answer shall be rewarded two (2) marks and a wrong marking shall be penalised by (-1/2) mark.

1) Course fee for the Nonsponsored candidates:

3) Course fee for foreign nationals
a) SAARC Countries
US $ 10,000 per participant
b) Other than SAARC Countries
US$ 11,000 per participant
*First installment is to be deposited at NPTI Nagpur by demand draft favoring NPTI payable at Nagpur.
** To be deposited at the allocated Institutes by demand draft favoring & payable in the name of Institute where formal training is being taken.
