BIRAP is a unique program initiated by the Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India, to mentor, support and nurture innovation in Biotechnology Industry of India. To implement its mandate BIRAP is looking for highly motivated industry experienced candidates who can take up this activity as a big challenge at its Delhi office.
1) Programme Manager – Intellectual Property (Code: PM-IP):
Qualification: M.Sc/M.Tech (1st Division)/Ph.D in Life Sciences with an advanced Degree/Diploma in intellectual property, IP Law from a recognized College or Institute. Candidate should have a work experience of minimum 3 to 4 years in the area of Intellectual Property rights specially in filing and prosecuting patent applications, searching literature and patents. In addition, preference will be given to a Qualified Patent agent.
Job description: Co-ordination of IP related tasks including assessment of technologies in biotechnology area for IP protection, patentability assessment, freedom-to-operate searches, advising clients for generation of IP, managing IP portfolio, drafting IP policies, drafting and filing of patent applications etc.
2) Manager – Accounts and Administration (Code: M-AA)
Qualification: Commerce Graduate (1st Division) with 2 to 3 years working experience in accounts and administration and should be well versed with computer applications, particularly operating financial softwares. Candidates with CA (inter) /CWA will be preferred.
Job Description: Maintaining accounts for BIRAP activities, executing necessary formalities for company formation and also responsible for all administrative and personnel matters of BIRAP office.
3) Software Programmer (Code: SP):
Qualification: MCA/B.Tech.(Computer Science with 1st Division) with 2-3 years of relevant experience in c#, java, MySql 5.0, SQL Server, ASP.NET 2.0/3.5, php, java script, HTML, CSS, Ajax. The incumbent should have practical knowledge of developing software programmes and operating and maintaining dynamic websites.
Job description: Management and updation of BIRAP portal and development of specific software tools to aid the implementation of BIRAP, development and management of databases related to industry activities and programmes. Developing software programmes and operating and maintaining dynamic websites.
SALARY FOR ABOVE POSITIONS 1, 2 & 3: Consolidated salary ranging from Rs. 4.00 lakhs to Rs. 6.00 lakhs per annum depending upon qualifications and experience.
4) Data Entry Operator (Code: DEO):
Qualification: Graduate with sound knowledge in typing and computer skills. 5 years experience in related job desirable.
Job Description: To take care of the data entry and maintaining all records.
Salary: Rs. 20,000/- per month (Consolidated)

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) An autonomous, dynamic, flexible and futuristic organization to support the growth of Indian biotech industry, particularly, Start-ups and Small and Medium Enterprises. As a next step, BIRAC shall serve as DBT’s interphase agency for Industry -Academia and shall aim to support and nurture the emerging biotech entrepreneurs.
Mission and Vision of BIRAC
Mission of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is to facilitate and mentor the generation and translation of innovative ideas into viable bio-enterprises, create products and services for the industry and encourage entrepreneurship.
The Vision is to become an autonomous operational structure which can operate with a unique methodology nurturing the high risked projects which hold potential of commercialization. BIRAC would also act as a mentor and perform capacity building activity for Biotechnology Industry and Academia. BIRAC can be visualized as an organization with four unique vertical s to support it’s mandate.
