About Cricket in New Zealand
New Zealand cricket team is also known as the BLACKCAPS. NZ played their first Test Match in 1929-30 England, Christchurch, by becoming the fifth nation. They played their first ODI against Pakistan in the year1972-73.
Currently the team is lead by Daniel Vettori he was replaced by Stephen Fleming who was known as the most successful captain. NZ lost its first match under Daniel Vettori’s captaincy by 358 runs against SA which is the worst match in NZ history.
NZ team became to known as Blackcaps in the year 1998, by their sponsor clear communication held a competition to choose the name for team.
NZ has serviced some of the best players such as Martin Crowe, John Wright, Andrew Jones and some more. Chirs Crains made his debut in 1990 was one of the best all-rounders in NZ along with Stephen Fleming. Nathan Astle and Craig McMillan also played and scores good runs for NZ, but both these players’ retired very soon as expected.
Denial Vettori was one of the youngest player to debut as an 18yr old in 1997 and was regarded as best spinner in the team. He is the eight player to take 300 wickets and to score 3000 test runs. NZ has got one of the fastest bowler in cricket and he is Shane Bond who played 17 test between 2001-07 but most of the time he was out of the team due to his injuries.
Brendon McCUllam one of the best batsman in NZ and a wicket keeper is the most aggressive player in team. He is the only player who scored 158 in opening match of the IPL.
NZ has got some of the best players such as Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, Scott Stryris are more valuable players in the team for future.
