The Commonwealth Games, held every four years, is going to be hosted by Delhi for the 2010 edition. The games will take place in the month of October (3-14) this year.

For the convenience of the athletes and the tourists, organisers have taken great pains to see that the preparations have taken place done accordingly. Commonwealth of Nations has 53 member countries all over the world.

With 85 nations planning to participate in the Commonwealth Games, as many as 8,000 sports personalities from all over the world are scheduled to arrive here. Khel Gaon ( games village) set near river Yamuna is going to become the home of athletes in the games. From table tennis to gymnastics, a number of events will provide enough competitive events for the visitors also.

The participation of such a huge number of athletes is mind-boggling. Considering the fact that in 1930, the first edition of the games started with the participation of just eleven countries and four hundred athletes. Last time, seventy-one countries had participated in the Commonwealth Games and now Delhi will host a record-number of participating nations and athletes. Six countries have attended all the Commonwealth Games. They are Australia, Canada, England, Scotland, New Zealand and Wales.

The countries who are supposed to participate in the 2010 edition of Commonwealth Games are Afghanistan, Algeria, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Belize, Barbados, Bermuda, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Brunei, Cameroon, Canada, Cayman Islands, Christmas Islands, Cook Islands, Cyprus, Dominica, England, Eritrea, Falkland Islands, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guernsey, Guyana, India, Israel, Isle of Man, Jamaica, Jersey, Kiribati, Kenya, Lesotho, Malaysia ,Maldives, Malawi, Madagascar, Mauritius, Malta, Mozambique, Namibia, Nauru, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norfolk Island, Palestine, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Saint Helena, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Sierra Leone, Samoa, Scotland, Seychelles, Singapore, Northern Ireland, Solomon Islands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu Wales, Yemen and Zambia  .
