Commonwealth games are the nineteenth common wealth games. It is scheduled to be held in Delhi between 3rd October and 14th October 2010. The opening ceremony will take place in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi. It is the first ever common wealth games hosted by India and it is the ninth commonwealth games in that name. It is also the second commonwealth games hosted by an Asian country.
The estimated budget for hosting the games excluding non-sports-related infrastructure development in the city like airports, roads and other structures is US$ 1.6 billion. This budget will make the commonwealth games the most ever expensive commonwealth games. The stadiums for hosting different games are Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, Delhi University sports complex, Thyagaraj Stadium, Siri Fort Sports Complex, Dr. Karni Singh shooting range, Talkatora tadium, SPM Swimming Pool Complex, RK Khanna Tennis Complex and Yamuna Sports Complex.
This games is the first ever ‘Green Commonwealth games’. The official mascot of the games is an anthropomorphic tiger called Shera. It is expected that the games are going to drive thousands of fans to Delhi for treatments like dental and cosmetic treatments, because these types of treatments are very expensive in countries outside India.

The government is undertaking a large power-production initiative to increase power production to 7, 000 MW from the current 4, 500 MW to prepare for the increase of energy usage. India will offer free accommodation and transport for all athletes at the games village. India will also provide free trips for athletes to the places like Taj Mahal. The state police forces will be trained to handle tourist related issues.
